Park City is 32 miles of Salt Lake City and a former mining city. The population of the area took a hit with the demise of the mining industry but throughout the 80s and 90s it has expanded rapidly again and tourism is an important part of the local economy. The main attraction for visitors is the three major ski resorts that the city boasts. These are Canyons Resort, Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort. The latter two were utilized during the 2002 Winter Olympics as the ski and snowboarding venues. The bobsled track is hugely popular for athlete training. Members of the Australian Freestyle Ski Team use Utah in America as their training base and it is home to the US Ski Team. These resorts are easy for visitors to access and very popular.

While the ski facilities are perhaps the biggest draw to the area, Utah is also famous for being the location of the largest independent film festival in America, the Sundance Film Festival. It is here that the likes of the Blair Witch Project shot to fame and recognition. It attracts nearly 50,000 attendees and is held in January. It showcases new film making talent, drama and documentaries. Scenes from the film Dumb and Dumber were filmed in Utah back in 1994. Shoppers will enjoy Park City for the largest factory outlet in the state of Utah as well as many luxury boutiques and shops. The city has many quality restaurants and bars.

Park City is proud of its outdoor lifestyle, with golf courses, hiking and biking to appeal to visitors, as well as the forests surrounding it and reservoirs and hot springs. The City is particularly popular with visitors in the summer months, as they travel there to escape the high temperatures from nearby areas. It has many people setting up home there from Europe and is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States. Park City has been named one of the top 20 prettiest places in the United States. It is often praised in outdoor and adventure magazines and for accolades including the 2011 Gold-level Ride Center for its biking trails and passion to the sport. This was awarded by the International Mountain Bicycling Association. The best way to get around Park City is by foot or bicycle. Alternatively, if you want to explore the nearby areas and ski resorts, hiring a car is another great option.
