Thornbank Guest House Windermere is a friendly bed and breakfast, providing comfortable affordable accommodation for the discerning guest, situated in a quiet residential area of Windermere within walking distance of Bowness, in the English Lake District, an area of outstanding beauty. Bowness is the ideal base for mountaining, canoeing, sailing, walking or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. A gentle stroll takes you to the shops in Windermere and Bowness, together with restaurants and bars. Alternatively enjoy a round of golf in the superb surroundings at the Windermere Golf Club. Thornbank Guest House is located between Windermere and Bowness on the lake. The area offers the vistor to the lakes a wealth of attractions from quaint little villages enriched in history to the specatular beauty the area has to offer. Thornbank is ideally located to see this magnificent scenery. Why not see the original art work and mini village museum dedicated to Beatrix Potter and her work. Coniston, Grasmere and Ambleside are within driving distance and are perfect for shopping. Nobody comes to the lakes without a cruise around the lake, why not combine it with an open top bus tour to make it a truly remarkable day out. Alternatively visit the Brockhole with 30 acres to enjoy, including woodland, gardens and adventure playgrounds open all year followed by picnic or coffee on the outdoor terrace cafe. Be amazed by the new changes at the South Lakes Wild Animal Park including aerial walkways and viewpoints. Walk amongst 100 lemurs living wild in the park.
