Avila is a Spanish city and a World Heritage Site that belongs to the region of Castile and Leon. It is also the capital of the province of the same name, located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula, on a rocky enclave at a height of 1,128 metres; the River Adaja has its source here. Avila has a well-preserved medieval city wall with nine gateways, 87 towers and a perimeter of approximate 2.5 kilometres, which is lit up at night. The Basilica of San Vicente is a mixture of styles. It is an interesting place to visit and seeing it thoroughly can take you some hours.
