Bandung is the largest city, and capital of West Java Province in Indonesia. It is the fourth largest city in Indonesia as a whole, behind Medan, Surabaya, and of course Jakarta, the nation's capital. Bandung has a population of roughly 1.7 million residents. Being 2500 feet above sea level, Bandung experiences much cooler temperatures throughout the year than most other cities in Indonesia. There are many attractions of Bandung, and amongst the most popular of them include the dormant volcanoes and hot springs that are situated right across the province for keen adventurers and explorers. The local restaurants reflect typical Indonesian culture with a vast range of traditional foods, as well as a range of imported food. The major landmark of Bandung can be seen anywhere across the city from an elevated position, and this is Mount Tangkuban Perahu, a dormant volcano, situated 30km north of the city. This volcano is trekable, with paths leading up to its crater which is filled with steaming mud and hot springs. The city of Bandung is a large city with plenty to do in order to cure boredom. Within the city or on the outskirts, there is always something to do or see. The entire city is covered with areas with of cultural interest as well as prominent built up areas of modern architecture and living.
