Boise is southwest in the state of Idaho and lies on the Boise River. The cultural part of Boise is in the downtown area. This is the place to visit for shopping boutiques, restaurants and nightlife. There are also a number of parks and museums, as well as the Basque Block, which showcases the Basque culture in Boise. In 2015 (and every five years) a Basque festival called Jaialdi is held in the Basque Block. Another area for great restaurants is West Boise. The Boise Towne Square Mall has malls and eateries, as well as apartments. Boise State University, south of downtown, is an important part of local life. The 37,000 seater Albertsons Stadium on the campus is home to Boise State Broncos football team. Not only does this area cater for students, in terms of restaurants, shops and nightlife, but is popular with visitors as well.

To enjoy the outdoors, it is best to explore East Boise and Harris Ranch. This leads to the Boise River and foothills, with hot springs and is also home to the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.
