The city of Forli is in the Italian region of Emilia-Romana. It is a place that possesses a rich cultural heritage and its monuments and museums tell stories that date back to classical Roman era. In its old quarters we find historical sites such as the Abazzia di San Mercuriale, built in 1181, with an imposing bell tower, for a long time considered one of the wonders of the country. Forli also came to be a place that was strongly influenced by Mussolini and restorations were carried out in the quarter, which changed it, giving it fascist style architecture. Two constructions that are characteristic of this style are the Piazzale de la Vittoria and the Viale Della Liberta. The Piazzale de la Vittoria is a monument commemorating those fallen in war and possessing a beautiful bronze sculpture. The main square or Piazza Saffi is dedicated to Aurelio Saffi, a person who is a symbol of the city. His statue is in the centre and towards the west we can see the old Municipal palace whose construction began in the year 1000. The history of Forli will amaze you; discover it! |
