Gettysburg is in the US state of Pennsylvania. It was the scene of the most crucial battle in the American civil war, where 51,000 people died in the space of three days, from the 1st to the 3rd of July 1863. You can walk around the battlefield and study the strategies used by the two armies, whilst listening to the stories told by the guides. You also have the chance of witnessing theatrical reconstructions of historical personalities and events, at the site where it all took place. Visit themed museums such as the wax museum, the train museum, and the house of David Wills, which contains the Lincoln museum, and listen to ghost stories. The picturesque town of Gettysburg offers a relaxing break from the daily routine and the stress of the big cities. It would be an interesting experience that can be shared by the whole family, by enjoying some of the attractions that have nothing to do with the battlefield, such as the American Music Theatre (Lancaster) for example, where you can see shows and concerts. The Cherry-Crest farm (Ronks) has a maze that is great fun; visiting the farm and enjoying all the other entertainment available will appeal to both young and old. There is the Adams vineyard (Orrtanna), the Hauser Estate vineyard (Biglerville), the fun parks, plenty of shops to stroll around, restaurants, quality hotels on offer, as well as numerous camping sites. Come to Gettysburg.
