Glacier National Park is in northern USA. It is in the state of Montana, close to the Canadian border. This fabulous ecosystem takes in two mountain ranges, over 700 lakes, woods, waterfalls, alpine tundra and numerous plant and animal species. Next to the expressway there are five hotels and several houses that are included in the National Registry of Historical Places. The official symbol of the park is the mountain goat, which is common in the region. The most impressive waterfalls are Bird Woman Falls and those in McDonald Valley and Many Glacier. The park has seven mountains over nine thousand feet, the highest being Mount Cleveland. The principal lakes are St. Mary, Two Medicine and McDonald. The woods in the park are predominantly conifer forests. Over 62 different mammal species and 260 bird species have been documented in the park. The most popular activity there is hiking. The camping sites of St. Mary and Apgar are open all year. Skiing is an option in the winter and during the rest of the year you can try horse riding, sailing, rafting and golf. Glacier National Park will captivate you with its natural beauty.
