Ipswich is the main town in the county of Suffolk, England, on the estuary of the River Orwell. It has a number of outstanding buildings which include: the 15th century Ancient House; Christchurch Mansion, a fine Tudor house; the Ipswich Museum; the Church of St Lawrence, with its 19th century tower; and St Stephen's Church, which dates to the 15th century and still houses many old monuments and original ecclesiastical features. The town has a great many possibilities for leisure time, as it has a cinema, a theatre, a sports complex and variety of pubs, bars and restaurants for relaxing and enjoying some of the regional cuisine. If you like outdoor activities, then Ipswich has many parks, the most popular being: Chantry, Christchurch and Holywells. There are also several smaller parks which, nonetheless are well worth a visit, for example Alexandra, Bourne, Gippeswyk and Stone Lodge. One interesting and original activity is to take one of the Ipswich Ghost Tours, which give a guided visit of the town and tell of the myths and legends that the place hides. |
