Kiev (also spelt Kyiv) is the capital and the largest city in Ukraine. It is found on steep hills in the North of the country and overlooks the Dnepr River. One of the popular landmarks amongst the many tourists that visit Kiev is the Pecherska Lavra. This is a cluster of churches displaying fine architecture; it is also known as the Ministry of Caves and continues to attract tourists annually. Saint Sophia Cathedral rivals this as another beautiful piece of architecture. The sights of Kiev are very traditional, but the city still manages to attract tourists from all over the world due to the vast amount of things to do. The city has so many cinemas and theatres that there is never a shortage of entertainment. The Globus Shopping Complex is one of many in the city, providing residents and tourists everything they may need. Kiev has many lavish places to eat, including Shchekavytsya which is quite an expensive restaurant, but it sells very high quality food. If you want something a little more affordable but still delicious, try Dva Gusya, which sells traditional Ukraine food, but in a fast food style. With the nightlife in Kiev you get a choice of everything. There are casinos, discos, cocktail bars, and cabaret bars.
