Lubin is a city situated on the banks of the river Zimnica, in the south-east of Poland. It is found in the province of Dolnoslaskie and is the seat of the County of Lubin and of the Gmina Lubin rural area. It is a very dynamic place with a high level of economic development and possesses a lot of facilities for tourists. Lubin is one of the biggest cities in the country and one the ones with the highest historical value. Its historical heritage includes sites of archaeological interest as well as old castles and monuments, witnesses from a story filled past. It is divided into old Stary Lubin and the new town, two segments of the city of Lubin with different historical pasts. Stary Lubin was born with the building a stone church on a hill in the west, around which the mythical town began to spring up. German colonists founded the new town around the year 1280.
