Muscat is the biggest city and capital of the Sultanate de Oman, in the Middle East. It is made up of three cities: Muscat, Matruh and Ruwi. It is a city that attracts a lot of tourists all year around, who come to Muscat looking for the mystical treasures of the area. If cultural activities are more to your liking, the city also has a lot to offer in that sense. First of all, the architecture is well worth your time. There are many impressive mosques in the city, among the most notable of which is the Grand Mosque, one of the most beautiful mosques in the Middle East and the third biggest in the world. The complex is open to non-Muslims on certain days, and visitors can see the world's biggest Persian rug there. Another of the most popular sights in Muscat is the Muscat Gate Museum, a place that is remarkable not only for its interesting exhibitions, but also because of the magnificent views it has of the city. You should also find time to see the Mutrah Souk market. Muscat is also a good place for outdoor activities, with gorgeous beaches where you can engage in different water sports and from which you will occasionally be able to see whales, dolphins and sea tortoises |
