Strasbourg is a pretty city in eastern France. It is in the Rhine Valley, close to the German border. It is a great base from which to explore Alsace, Baden Baden, the Black Forest and the Vosgues. The old quarter of Strasbourg is encircled by the L'ill River. Of note is its Gothic Cathedral, made of pink stone and having a huge bell tower. The area around is very beautiful, and you will find no shortage of handcrafts shops, restaurants, cafes and old mansions, like Maison Kammerzell. Admire the architecture of the Old Quarter and go to La Petite France, an old are of fishmongers and millers that has lovely canals and bridges, as well as wooden sluice gates and houses, to name just a few of its charms. The modern city of Strasbourg has at its heart the Place de la Republique, which is where you will find the Rhine Palace, the National Library and the National Theatre. Close to Parc de l'Orangerie are the modern buildings of the European and Human Rights institutions. When in Strasbourg, we recommend visiting its many interesting museums, churches, and cultural events. You should take a boat ride around the city and make sure you get to see the view from the Barrage Vauban and the cathedral tower. Visit Strasbourg.
