The Hague is one of the largest cities in the Netherlands and is located near the North Sea coast; it is home to many important international organisations. The closest cities are Delft, Leiden, Rijswijk and Rotterdam. The oldest building in the city, which is still used for political events, is the Ridderzaal. The Queen of the Netherlands lives in the Huis ten Bosch Palace. The Hague is the place to visit interesting museums like the Mauritshuis, which has paintings by Vermeer and Rembrandt. In this city you can see the whole of Holland, but in miniature, at the Madurodam. The centre of the city is the Binnenhof, which has fascinating architecture, and the most popular area is Scheveningen, on the coast, with its famous Kurkhaus. The long beaches have fine sand and are very clean; they are ideal for surfing and other water sports, although its strong currents mean that swimmers tend to be experts. The city has 700 gardens, squares and parks. In the Haagse Bosch, you can visit the house of the woods, which is a Baroque building. A place you must see is Westbroek Park, especially when the flowers are in bloom, as well as many other parks. The Hague has many coffee shops, restaurants, theatres, a great nightlife and good quality accommodation. Your holiday here will be fantastic.
