Tyler is located a hundred miles southeast of Dallas and has a population of about 110,000. It is considered the "Rose Capital of the World" because of the many rose bushes throughout the area. It also has the largest rose garden in the United States, known as the Tyler Rose Garden, and one of the most inspiring gardens in the U.S. Tyler holds the annual Texas Rose Festival, which draws tourists to the area in mid-October. Tyler Attractions Given its size, Tyler is big enough to offer many attractions and activities to visitors, yet small enough to make everyone who comes to town feel welcome.

Some of the more popular tourist attractions include: The Tyler Texas Museum is a highly respected museum located at the Tyler Junior College, and it has permanent rotating collections that keep people coming back. It is near the Rose Garden and documents the history of the annual Rose Festival. Tyler's Railroad Depot has the Depot museum where previous employees and community members have donated four large model train layouts, uniforms, hats, and other train memorabilia. The Goodman Legrand Houston Museum was built in 1859 and is designated as historic landmark. It is not only a beautiful place, but an interesting museum.

The Tyler Museum of Art was opened in 1952, and is an educational and cultural center that enriches the life of East Texas through the celebration of the visual arts. Tyler Festivals - The Texas Rose Festival Rose Parade is very popular in Tyler. The Texas Rose Festival is always held in October, and the parade features floats, marching bands, local groups, vintage cards, and the queen of the Rose Parade. There is so much history to the Rose Festival and showcased in the Rose Museum that opened in 1992. It has been visited by over 300,000 people and tells the story of the hardships and successes of the Rose industry in Tyler. It also highlights the elegance of the tradition of the Rose Festival by displaying many photographs, newspaper clippings, Rose memorabilia, and costumes.

There is the popular Kiepersol Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp at the Estates Vineyard and Winery. Vodka sampling is also offered at the new distillery. Kiepersol provides first class wine sampling and many local restaurants participate in this fun celebration.

Restaurants From Mexican to barbeque to steak, there are many great restaurants it Tyler can inspire one's palate. One can get a great burger or some catfish at Jucy's Hamburgers, Kiepersol Restaurant, Clear Springs Cafe, or Pat Gee's. Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q is the best place in town for Barbeque, while Bruno's Pizza is the favorite for pizza. Mexican and Italian places include: Villa Montez, Oliveto Italien Bistro, Mama's Restaurant, La Plazita, and Taqueria El Lugar. For Asian and Greek entrees, the top choices are What About Kabob, Bernard Mediterranean Restaurant, Shogun of Japan, and Three Z Azian Cuizine.

Tyler is a nice to place to visit and offers outstanding hospitality to visitors looking for a hometown appeal. The best times to visit are during the local Rose or Harvest Festivals, but any time throughout the year can also be a great experience.
