Valladolid is the capital of the Spanish region of Castile and Leon located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. It is a very historic place with many old buildings and museums. The National Museum of Sculpture houses an important collection by recognised artists. There are also many interesting churches. The facade of the Cathedral of San Pablo is an impressive and beautiful work, while only a few steps away are the Romanesque Old Church and the Church of San Benito, one of the oldest in the city. The Plaza Mayor is an interesting square with a number of significant buildings, including the Casa Consistorial, the Zorrilla Theatre, the impressive Post Office building and many more. Valladolid's culture is an important attraction, and perhaps the best time to appreciate this is Easter, the city's most important festival. During this time there are processions where striking religious images are carried through the streets of Valladolid in a display of art and mysticism. This event is one of great emotion, devotion and solemnity, making it a unique occasion. Valladolid will be an experience for all your senses, come and visit!
