Vidin is a peaceful town in the northwest of Bulgaria on the banks of the River Danube, and it is one of the oldest towns in the country; it is also the administrative centre of the region. You can visit the Baba Vida fort, a well-preserved medieval construction. It works as a museum and here you can see theatrical representations of its history, complete with traditional costumes. Another interesting place for visitors is Kaleto Castle, and other monuments to visit include the Albutinski Kastiel VII, Bundici, the Evrejska Synagogue, Krstata Kazarma; the main churches include St. Pantalejmon's, St. Dimitar's and St. Petra's. There are plenty of museums to see in order to find out about its ancient culture, like the Antim I, the Konaka, the Osman Pazvantoglu, and the Vidinska Mitropolia. For outdoor activities and relaxation, visit Gradski Park, discover the wonderful underground world of the Magurata Caves, or the picturesque panorama of the River Danube, which separates Romania from Bulgaria. You can stay in a comfortable hotel on the riverside, or if you prefer, you can stay in the old town, which is also a great place for traditional cuisine and crafts. Visit Vidin!
