Warrington is a large town and borough in Cheshire, England. It is a place with some interesting contrasts, close, as it is, to rural areas, pleasant towns with industrial heritage and some beautiful scenery. Here you can enjoy history and architecture, watch the river run by, be a part of the lively atmosphere or get away to quiet, rural spots. Warrington has some impressive buildings and great historical houses. Furthermore, it hosts a variety of events and traditional festivals and visitors to these will receive a warm welcome from the town. The most interesting places to see here include: the Town Hall (with its golden gates), which was previously a private residence known as Bank Hall, built in 1750; the Parish Church of St Elphin, which dates from the 14th century; Warrington's oldest pub, the Barley Mow, established in 1561; and a statue of Alice in Wonderland, commemorating the writer Lewis Carroll. The town of Warrington has much to offer, some attractive hotels, a wide range of restaurants and pubs and everything you need for a comfortable stay. |
