Things to do
Go with the flow in the exhilarating Djemaa en-Fna, the city's main square, which comes alive at night with street, shows, amusements, music and open air restaurants. The city's souks are an explosion of smells, tastes and colour and though the labyrinthine layout may seem daunting, they're well worth exploring on your city break.

Shopping
Shopping in Marrakech takes a little getting used to, but once you've mastered the art of haggling (in Morocco it's rude not to!) you'll start to understand what makes the souks so exciting. Friendly banter is all part of the game and although at first it may seem overwhelming to those used to loyalty cards and serene checkout queues, retail Moroccan style has a life and energy of its own.

Dining
As evening entertainment goes, Djemaa en-Fna is hard to beat. The hundred or so restaurants which set up camp each evening on the city's main square serve a wide variety of street food, from grilled meats and salads to seafood and tagines. Aside from the Djemaa street vendors, restaurants typically serve French or Italian cuisine.
