Things to do
Largely undamaged during World War II, Prague's historic architecture has stood the test of time. The city is split up into several districts, each with their own unique attractions. The Hradcany area is home to the biggest ancient castle in the world, with the MalaStrana area located across the Vltava River, offering beautiful streets and churches. Note that if you're staying outside of the city centre, buses can't enter the historic districts due to pollution reasons so you'll have to transfer to a tram or metro.

Shopping
If you're looking for souvenir shops, you'll find them mostly around Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and Prague Castle. Parizska Street runs from Old Town Square towards the river and is home to some of the most luxurious boutiques in Prague. In December, the squares host Christmas markets selling a mix of arts, craft, food and drink, making them a great place to pick up a unique gift.

Dining
Pubs are an important part of the local culture and after a couple of pints you might want to sample some unique pub grub - cold smoked mackerel or raw beef on deep fried toast! Street vendors selling Czech style hot dogs and mulled wine are readily available. For a table with a view, head to Kampa Park, a gourmet seafood restaurant overlooking Charles Bridge.
