The third largest city in Japan and second most important outside of Tokyo, Osaka is located at the centre of the Japanese archipelago's biggest island of 3,000 and sits at Osaka Bay next to Yodo River. Osaka is known for having food central to its culture and historical heritage. There are many attractions and sights to visit and see in Osaka, including Osaka Castle, which also houses a museum displaying lots of samurai related relics including armour and weapons. To get a sense of the Buddhist heritage of this city, there is the Shi-Tennoji Temple. There is also the Shinto Shrine of Osaka and, of course, many places to shop and eat. It is worth making time to visit the Dotombori Bridge and Dotombori/Shinsaibashi shopping area, and trying some authentic Osaka food like tako-yaki. For something a little different there is the Umeda Sky Building which is a floating garden observatory. This basically represents the rural and landscape features of all Japan. The actual Sky Garden can be seen to the south from above and features a rainforest and a waterfall. For people interested in technology, there is the electronic district called Den Den Town.
