Originally a salt house used by Benedictine monks in the 16th century, this Sid Valley B&B and restaurant is 2.5 miles from Sidmouth and 1.7 miles from the Donkey Sanctuary.
Rooms are individually decorated in contemporary style and all have en suite bathrooms (some with free-standing baths or whirlpool tubs) plus beds with upscale mattresses, flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. There's also free WiFi plus tea and coffeemaking facilities.
Cooked breakfast is included. The elegant Garden Room restaurant offers a fine dining menu, while the cosy lounge bar and brasserie serves casual snacks and sharing platters.
