Tucked along a lush riverbank in the 10,000-hectare Shambala Private Game Reserve, this upscale lodge lies 5 km from the nearest town of Vaalwater.
The 8 thatched, honeycomb-shaped chalets are TV-free and elegantly furnished with French Provincial-style decor. All provide minibars and outdoor showers with bush views. Butler service is available.
Breakfast, game drives and bush picnics, plus stargazing and sundowner cruises are included. There's also a plunge pool, a spa, a dining room/lounge with a river-view deck, and a thatched-roof gazebo with a fire pit. Guided bush walks are offered for a fee. Kids age 10 and over are welcome.
