Offering hot-spring baths and Japanese rooms with garden views and a minibar, the 4-star Wajoen Ryokan is 5 minutes from JR Isawa Onsen Train Station on the free shuttle. Multi-course Japanese-style meals are served.

Rooms at Wajoen have a simple décor in Japan's famously minimalist style, and guests sleep in either Western beds or in futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Shoji paper screens, soft lights and a low table with floor cushions set a tranquil mood. Each air-conditioned room includes an LCD TV with DVD player, green tea and an en suite bathroom, and some rooms have a private open-air hot-spring bath.

The station shuttle must be reserved at time of booking, and operates at limited times (see Important Information). Takeda Shrine is a 30-minute trip away, and Shosenkyo Ropeway cable car is 12.4 miles away. Wineries dot the area. The ryokan's on-site parking is free.

When not strolling through the peaceful Japanese garden or luxuriating in one of the hot-spring baths, you can enjoy an aromatherapy massage or browse the gift shop.

The Japanese breakfast and dinner are served at the dining room. Dinner is a traditional Kaiseki multi-course meal featuring regional specialities made from fresh seasonal ingredients.

This property is a ryokan, which is a type of traditional Japanese Inn.
