Fairbanks is a major city in central Alaska, in the United States. It is close to the meeting of the rivers Chiena and Tanana. There are many things to see in and around Fairbanks. Creamer Field is a wildlife refuge that is home to many bird species, such as geese, ducks and cranes. The refuge also protects the fields, woods and swamps around Charlie Creamer Farm. Creamer, who regularly kept grain stores to feed the birds, was the inspiration behind this refuge. The University of Alaska and its museum have excellent exhibitions on the history, nature and culture of Alaska. To get to know more about the history and culture of Fairbanks you should visit Pioneer Park, popular thanks to its Gold Rush Town, a place with 35 restored period buildings that today act as a historical centre and shopping district. One of the nicest tours you can take in the area is the Riverboat Discovery trip, which includes a visit to the native settlement of the Chiena River to get to know its culture and traditions. Fairbanks is a unique place that is just waiting for you.
