Panama City is located on the panhandle of Florida and is surrounded by water along what is known as the Emerald Coast. It is a very popular tourist destination due to its white sand beaches, and calm, clean, blue waters. Water activities are also very popular including snorkeling, diving, and fishing. Attractions The main attraction is the beach. The coast along Panama was named the Emerald Coast for a reason and there are few other places in the U.S. that offer the sugary feel and soft white sand beaches and crystal-blue waters. Panama does offer other attractions; however, and here are a few that visitors should keep in mind: Shell Island is off the coast and great for sight sightseeing and enjoying the natural beauty. One can swim with the dolphins, relax on the sand, and be removed from mainland tourist beaches. The Shell Island shuttle can take visitors over. St. Andrews Park is an unspoiled Gulf Coast Preserve and offers stunning soft white beaches, blue water, two fishing piers, and campgrounds and RV sites. Gulf World Marine Park is an attraction where visitors can learn about many different marine animals including dolphins, stingrays, reptiles, sea lions, and tropical birds. Captain Anderson's Marina provides many popular day trips and excursions. It is a popular choice for visitors who want to do more than just lounge on the beach. They offer island tours, dolphin excursions and sightseeing; they also provide dinner cruises.

Helicopter Rides, although a little more expensive, can also be a great way to experience Panama City. Tourists can enjoy viewing the beautiful beaches from above and experience a different point of view. McKinsey Park is a green space near the city center. It has many shade trees and is great when the summer is hot. The Gallery of Art is another enjoyable place away from the beach. Its collection includes local and national known metalwork, murals, and paintings. Shopping There are different types of shopping experiences in Panama City. Here are some of the most popular: Antique Cottage is an enjoyable shop where even the building is an antique. It is a very quaint little cottage brimming with authentic English antiques and tons of vintage items.

Pier Park is the premier mall in Panama City. It has a beach setting which means guests can enjoy the scenery while they shop with well-known retailers. Carillon Beach is a place where one can stroll through an open-air mall and visit the white pristine beach that is just a few steps away. It's a resort getaway, but local tourists love it because it is a thriving market with boutiques and shops in many choices of fine dining. Pieces on the Beach is a line of a few coastal antique shops that are perfect to do some antiquing. It has a market feel to it, and has been called "coastal chic" and a great place to shop for beach trinkets and vintage finds. Restaurants For obvious reasons, the best places to eat in Panama City will have an array of seafood on their menu, but there are also diverse choices that can please almost any visitor. Pineapple Willies is popular in Panama City. They have Jack Daniels-based barbecue ribs and traditional seafood specials.

Captain Anderson's very popular family-style seafood restaurant is famous for their grilled shrimp and cooked-to-order steaks. Angelo's Steak Pit is a local favorite for their Hickory pit-grilled choice steaks. They have a signature sauce and wonderful Key lime and French silk pie. Saltwater Grille is very festive. It has a 25,000-gallon tropical aquarium and lobster is its star as well as other fresh fish and seafood choices. One popular dish is their macadamia-encrusted grouper. Boar's Head Restaurant and Tavern is a relaxed place to pick up local seafood dishes including baby back ribs, veal, prime rib, and many marine appetizers. Panama City is sure to please for no other reason than their beaches; yet, the motivated tourist can stay very busy with the many things there are to do in this coastal city.
