The Hotel Hekla is located in South Iceland, only a 45 minute drive from Reykjavik, and a 15-minute drive from Selfoss. The Hotel Hekla is a modern hotel with first-class meeting facilities and a team-building park. The chefs that prepare the food for the bright, informal dining room specialize in the use of local products, especially wild game each fall; vegetarian options are available, as are special dishes prepared for those with food allergies. You can relax in the well-stocked bar by the fireplace, or on the balcony with a view of the countryside to the south. Soaking in the outdoor hot tub in the evening, you can observe the stars and maybe even see the northern lights. The hotel is located in Selfoss, a quiet residential community at the northern end of Selfoss is the Svarfholsvollur golf course, and there are five 18-hole golf courses within a 30 minute drive. The staff of the Hotel Hekla can arrange fly fishing excursions on the major southern rivers in May and June with fishing guide Skuli Kristinsson. A short drive to the north of the hotel is a small volcano called Kerið, where you can park your car and complete a quick hike around the rim, or even walk down into the bowl.
