Station House Flat is a simply and elegantly decorated two bedroom ground floor holiday flat. The flat was fully renovated in 2007 and is rated at 4 star and has recently gained disability mobility access level 1. It was awarded third place in the self-catering category of the North East Tourism Awards 2008. Offering self-catering holiday accommodation, it was formed out of the public rooms (waiting room, ladies waiting room and ticket office) of the former Allendale Railway Station, the terminal station on the Hexham to Allendale line, which closed in 1950. The accommodation was fully refurbished to a high standard in 2007, and now offers two bedrooms and an open-plan living area. Renovation work exposed a two tonne stone beam over the fireplace and this provides a fitting setting for the wood burning stove. All the wood is cut on site from our own managed trees, so help yourself to logs and have a cosy night in. The Allen Valley is a beautiful area in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Station House Flat is a mile from attractive, stone-built Allendale village, with its good local shops and pubs. The village hall and one of the pubs are the focus of a regular programme of bands, dances and other social events that are open to visitors. Look out for the Allendale Fair in May, the Allendale Show in August and the historic Tar Barrel Festival on New Year's Eve as well as a host of other shows and festivals in local towns and villages. Please note: online bookings are accepted for stays of multiples of 7 nights commencing on a Saturday or for short breaks of 3 nights (not available at peak times and restricted to Monday or Friday starts at certain times of year).
